Many say that the new M2 is one of the best driving experience vehicles BMW has released in a long time and we do agree. Driving the car stock for about 6 months we were very pleased with how well it performed in most aspects from handling, braking, and overall drive-ability. The one area we felt the car lacked a bit was in the power range department. The car is not slow by any means in stock form but once over-boost cuts out it dose falls short a bit in the top rpm range. We knew Dinan was working on a stage 4 upgrade for the car and could not be more excited when the call finally came in saying its ready to ship.
Installation was what you would expect it to be coming from a company like Dinan. The intercooler, intake and exhaust fit is spot on and the turbo is a factory unit just machined about 30% larger so it fits just like the OEM unit would. As a matter of fact once installed there would be no way to tell the difference unless the cold side wheel is exposed. The Dinantronics unit is the main brain to this all controlling all aspects of the additional power while maintaining a safe median to certain parameters such as fuel trim. The unit is also blue-tooth enabled so once an app is download onto your phone you can set the vehicle to a stock mode in the event a trip to the dealer is needed.
Minimum weight and maximum sound are the name of the game. IPE’s Stainless and titanium exhaust system consists of IPE’s trademark Valvetronic muffler/s with tips. They use original quality actuators to control the valves improving reliability long term wise. Their GT3/RS titanium exhaust is a super lightweight weighing in at only 12.17 kg. That’s a weight reduction of 53.1% when comparing it to the original weight of the stock system which weighs 26.0 kg, a weight saving of 13.83 kg. The exhaust valves make it possible to improve both torque and horsepower, while the muffler internals were designed to specifically attack power gains and create their trademark F1 sound. IPE is famous for performance and F1 sounds at its finest. Their new lightweight titanium exhaust for 991 GT3/RS opens up entirely new worlds on these cars, any passionate driver who is looking for that extra-kick should consider refining their car with a system like this. ** Note ** Shown in pictures is IPE’s stainless system.
